Cornerstone launches internship scheme

Cornerstone Global Associates has launched its internship scheme after 6 months of design and preparation. Its partners have carried out a full survey of other major consultancies' industrial experience, and of recent graduates' concerns and expectations.

The first two interns are Avi Bram and Leonie Timmers. Avi is a graduate of Oxford University with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and Leonie is a law graduate from the University of Sussex in Law with International Relations, currently pursuing a Master degree in Public International Law at University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

Avi has already worked on a number of assignments. He produced an abridged version of Lucian Hudson's report "The Enabling State: Collaborating for Success" and assisted in researching for Blue Papers published by Cornerstone.

Among their first assignments is a diary of their experience as interns, together with remarks on current events in which Cornerstone is involved or interested. As Leonie writes, "It may also help people that are looking into applying for an internship in the future to get an idea of what the tasks of an intern are. My experience is that there is usually little info about the tasks that an intern will do and this makes it hard to write a motivation letter for a position".

Ghanem Nuseibeh (Founder, Partner an Director) says, "Our motivation for the scheme is to give a professional boost to those who need it in these difficult times. We want a mutually beneficial arrangement, and we're excited about our interns' input."

Dr Mark Somos, (Partner and Interim Managing Director), who will have overall responsibility for the scheme, adds, "Cornerstone's internship scheme is the start of a very exciting period of expansion and development. It is also proof of the maturity that Cornerstone has achieved. I would like to thank Lucian Hudson, who after his two years as Managing Director is handing over the Company in a robust, vigorous and expanding state. The internship scheme, which coincides with his departure, is a testimony to his leadership as much as a pledge of future growth."
